Women were granted suffrage through the enactment of the 19th Amendment in August of 1920, after the passage of the Prohibition Amendment. Though women did not have the power to vote in dry candidates prior to 1920, they actively stumped for politicians who supported making the production and selling of alcohol illegal. Anti-suffragists heavily rallied against the women and their supporters, often citing the idea that allowing women to vote would soon lead to the degradation of society - an argument that was coincidentally used by Prohibitionists to decry the evils of alcohol.
